Mobile Phone and Osaka City Code Numbers to Be Changed

Mobile phone and Osaka city code numbers will be changed to deal with the drastic increase in subscribers to mobile telephones and PSTN.



Cellular telephone and PHS terminal subscriber numbers

    Due to the shortage of cellular telephone and PHS terminal numbers caused by the drastic increase in subscribers, at 2:00 am JST on January 1, 1999, the numbering plan for all mobile phones will be simultaneously changed to accommodate future subscriber increase.

Fixed telephone numbers (PSTN)

    An additional digit "6" will be added to existing city code numbers in Osaka, at 2:00 am JST on January 1, 1999, as follows:
